GMHBA improves access to healthcare with Geelong Hub

GMHBA improves access to healthcare with Geelong Hub

GMHBA will open a multidisciplinary Hub in Geelong’s CBD in 2024, bringing together private health insurance, dental, eye care, medical and physiotherapy services under the one roof.

The flagship Hub will be located on Moorabool Street on the ground floor of GMHBA’s multimillion-dollar, state-of-the-art headquarters, where almost 300 of its existing corporate and support staff currently work.

The facility will be open to all members of the community, not just those insured with GMHBA.

“With growing demand for primary and allied health services in the Geelong region, it will offer our members, patients and customers, improved access to state-of-the-art modern facilities and high-quality care,” CEO David Greig said.

The announcement follows the successful launch of GMHBA’s Belmont Hub, which opened in July this year, bringing together medical, dental and physiotherapy with adjoining pharmacy, Community Care Chemist. The aim of the integrated care model is to support patients on their health journeys and connect them with specialist services, with a focus on preventive care.

“We are delighted with the response we’ve received to our Belmont Hub so far, and excited about the positive impact we will continue have on the health and wellbeing of our members and patients,” Mr Greig added.

Last financial year, GMHBA reported almost 112,000 occasions of care (the number of people who see  GMHBA doctors, nurses, dentists, physiotherapists and optometrists). This represented a 4% increase in the occasions of care on the previous year.

The GMHBA Health and Branch Network includes sites in Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Warrnambool and Portland.
