Positively impact the health of our communities
Our IMPACT programs are all about making a positive difference to the health of our local communities. We partner with organisations that work to improve the health of the broader community, with a particular focus on increasing physical activity, encouraging healthy eating and increasing social connection.
Importantly, our IMPACT programs are measured to ensure we are making a specific and demonstrable impact on key health issues in our communities.
The GMHBA Healthy Community Grants Program positively impacts the health of our communities by funding not for profit organisations in the broader Geelong region to undertake projects which improve health and wellbeing.
Current Healthy Community Grants recipients:
- Leopold Community & Learning Centre – Get Your Granny On
- Strive 2 Thrive
- The Stroke Association of Victoria – Barwon Stroke Support Centre
The Healthy Heroes program is a joint initiative of GMHBA and Geelong Cats that aims to empower young people to make good choices about their health and wellbeing. It is a one hour program designed specifically for Grade 3 and 4 students focusing on nutrition, water, exercise and screen time.
Throughout 2017 Healthy Heroes will be delivered to 47 primary schools across the Geelong region.
