GMHBA wins back-to-back national award for flexibility

GMHBA has been recognised as a leading health insurer in Australia, taking out Best for Flexibility for the second consecutive year at the 2026 WeMoney Health Insurance Awards, while also being named a finalist for Best Silver Hospital Cover.

The annual WeMoney Awards recognise insurers delivering strong value, customer experience and benefits across all stages of life. Winners are assessed by WeMoney’s research team and an independent panel across key criteria including hospital and extras cover, member benefits, claims experience and customer service.

The Best for Flexibility category specifically recognises insurers offering adaptable solutions that respond to changing member needs and life circumstances. Providers are assessed on a weighted range of factors including product customisation, the ease of upgrading or downgrading cover, flexible payment options, excess selection, benefit suspension, family member management, portability of cover and how simple it is for members to make changes to their policy.

GMHBA’s back-to-back win reflects its strength across these areas and reinforces its position as a market leader in delivering flexible, member-first health cover.

GMHBA CMO Helen Stevens said the recognition highlights the organisation’s ongoing commitment to putting members first.

“Winning Best for Flexibility two years in a row is a strong endorsement of our focus on giving members real control over their health cover. We know Australians want insurance that adapts as their lives change and we’ve prioritised making those transitions as simple as possible,” she said.

As a not-for-profit health insurer, GMHBA reinvests profits back into delivering better value, improved services and enhanced member benefits. With more than 90 years of caring for communities and strong regional roots, GMHBA continues to focus on making high-quality healthcare more accessible.

“Our not-for-profit model means our priority is always our members. This recognition reflects the work our teams do every day to provide flexible options, meaningful choice and a simpler, more transparent health insurance experience,” she added.

WeMoney, a leading personal finance platform with over 1.4 million downloads, connects with a predominantly Gen Z and Millennial audience. Research shows 71% of Australian consumers are more likely to choose a product displaying a WeMoney Award badge, highlighting the significance of the recognition in helping Australians confidently choose their health cover.
