We continue to refine our community strategy to ensure that we are delivering exceptional programs that drive real change and improvements to the health and wellbeing of our local communities. This is achieved through a number of internal and external programs that address our corporate social responsibility.

Strong connections help us to understand the issues and challenges being faced in our local communities. That’s why we’re a member of the Committee for Geelong, Geelong Chamber of Commerce and G21 Geelong Region Alliance.

Connecting with our communities through our business operations

We are involved in a number of programs that assist us to better understand our own operations and how we can support our local communities to prosper through procurement and recruitment.

As a signatory to the GROW (G21 Region Opportunities for Work) Compact, we recognise that ‘addressing disadvantage is everyone’s business’ and aim to help stimulate inclusive job growth and increase local investment to maximise economic and social outcomes in targeted areas.

As a P-TECH Australia Industry Partner, we are supporting the workers of tomorrow. The P-TECH mentoring program will nurture the talents of students and also expand opportunities for employment.

We are also participating in the Diversity Field Officer Service which will help us to increase our disability confidence to hire and retain employees with a disability.

Monitoring & Reporting

A successful community strategy to us is being able to demonstrate: a positive impact on the health of our communities; recognition as a leader in health and community spaces and having ‘community’ integrated and considered across all GMHBA businesses and brands.

To help us measure this we are proud to be a member of the London Benchmarking Group. Through this membership we are able to understand the contribution we’re making to our communities.

Environmental Sustainability

Having a healthy environment is an essential part of any healthy community. That’s why we're committed to reducing our environmental footprint by improving design, process and practice.

In 2015, we undertook a review of our energy supplier and as a result switched to 80% green power at our head office. We continue to look at ways we can improve our energy, water and materials use.

We engage our employees in green initiatives via our Green Team which is an employee group established to guide and educate GMHBA staff to reduce our business impact on the environment.
