Families are invited to experience a little magic at the GMHBA Geelong Hub this school holidays with a special Tooth Fairy Day, designed to make dental care fun, friendly, and fearless for kids.
Leading the enchantment will be Oral Health Therapist (OHT) Laura Malishev, who will transform into the Tooth Fairy to deliver check-ups for children and their beloved soft companions. Belmont Hub OHT Krystal Haggerty will also be taking bookings at Geelong Hub on the day, making it easier than ever for parents to prioritise their children’s oral health.
Kids are encouraged to bring their favourite teddy or toy along for a “Teddy Bear Check-Up”, helping to ease nerves and build positive dental habits from an early age.
Patients do not need to be a GMHBA member or hold any private health insurance.
“Our goal is to spark confidence and curiosity around dental care while promoting the next generation of healthy smiles,” Laura said.
“Establishing good oral health habits from a young age is essential for a child’s overall wellbeing. Early dental visits help prevent issues before they develop and encourage children to feel comfortable and confident in a clinical setting.”
Chief Operating Officer (Health and Branch Network) Natalie Lanarus said the event reflects GMHBA’s focus on improving access to preventive dental care for children.
“At GMHBA, our Health and Branch Network is focused on making dental care easier to access and less daunting for families,” she said.
“Tooth Fairy Day is a simple way to introduce children to dental care early, in a positive and familiar environment.
“By helping kids feel comfortable seeing a dentist from a young age, we’re supporting earlier intervention and better long-term oral health outcomes.”
Chief Operating Officer (Health and Branch Network) Natalie Lanarus said the whimsical event was part of GMHBA’s commitment to community health and early prevention, encouraging children to build lifelong, positive relationships with dental care.
“At GMHBA, our Health and Branch Network plays a vital role in delivering accessible, community-focused care that supports better long-term health outcomes,” she said.
“Initiatives like Tooth Fairy Day reflect our commitment to early intervention and prevention, engaging families in a way that is both meaningful and approachable.
“By creating positive, early experiences with our friendly clinicians, we are helping to build confidence in healthcare settings and supporting the next generation to develop lifelong healthy habits.”
