Mind's Wellbeing4Life Program

Wellbeing4Life supports eligible* GMHBA members' mental health and wellbeing through personalised face-to-face and telehealth care - helping build skills, regain control and reduce psychiatric hospital admissions.

What is Wellbeing4Life? 


The Wellbeing4Life program is a specialist psychosocial support model designed to help eligible* GMHBA members reduce psychiatric hospital admissions. Delivered by Mind Australia, this program offers accessible multidisciplinary care through telehealth and face-to-face outreach, supporting your journey towards wellness and independence.

*To be eligible for GMHBA to fund your participation in the Wellbeing4Life, Mind program, you must be 18 years or older, hold an active hospital policy that includes psychiatric services (excluding restricted covers), have been diagnosed with a mental disorder and have had an overnight admission for mental health concerns. To participate you have to provide consent to receive treatment and support from Mind Australia.

Who is eligible?

To participate, you must:

  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Hold an active unrestricted GMHBA Hospital product with the clinical category, Psychiatric Services.
  • Have had one or more overnight psychiatric admissions in the last 12 months.
  • Consent to participate and share data with your treating health professionals and Mind Australia.
  • Have a treating psychiatrist or GP, or be assigned one by the provider.
  • Be deemed appropriate for the program per Mind’s triage policy.

FAQs

Wellbeing4Life is a mental health support program offered by Mind Australia in partnership with GMHBA. It provides short to medium-term psychosocial support to eligible* GMHBA members to help reduce psychiatric hospital admissions and support recovery. The program includes up to 16 one-on-one sessions with qualified clinicians delivered via telehealth or face-to-face.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Hold an active GMHBA Hospital cover that includes psychiatric services (excluding restricted covers)
  • Have had one or more overnight mental health hospital admissions in the past 12 months
  • Consent to data sharing between your treating professionals and Mind Australia
  • Have a treating GP or psychiatrist (or be assigned one as part of the program)
  • Be assessed as appropriate for the program through a triage process

Eligible* GMHBA members wanting to enrol in this program will need to contact Mind Connect.

The program is fully funded for eligible* GMHBA members through your existing hospital premiums if you hold a policy that includes psychiatric services (excluding restricted covers).

You’ll receive up to 16 individual sessions with a qualified clinician, which may include:

  • Therapeutic interventions (e.g. acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectual behaviour therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care)
  • Skill-building for emotional regulation and distress tolerance
  • Psychoeducation
  • Practical strategies for daily living and wellbeing
  • Help with setting and working towards personal recovery goals
  • Referrals to external services where needed

Support is flexible, delivered via telehealth or in person, based on your preferences and location.

Your clinician will work with you on a relapse prevention plan, which includes:

  • Recognising early warning signs of unwellness
  • Strategies to stay well and avoid future hospital admissions
  • Onward referrals, such as trauma specialists, community services, NDIS, or online programs like ThisWayUp and e-couch

The program uses a range of evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs, including:

  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Schema Therapy
  • Trauma-informed practices
  • Solution-focused therapy
  • Psychoeducation and mindfulness-based techniques

You’ll be supported by a team of experienced clinicians from Mind Australia, including:

  • Psychologists
  • Social Workers
  • Occupational Therapists

All clinicians are trained in supporting people with a lived experience of mental health challenges.
