Are their specialised single parent dental plans?

Making it easier to take the first step

Being a parent is an around-the clock job. Being a single parent, even more so. We know how hard it can be to find enough hours in the day to do all the regular things, let alone find time to look at single parent health insurance options. We also know it’s the little things that can make a big difference, and we are here to help. The first step in making things easier for you is to make viewing our covers simple and helpful. We ask you questions and as you go through the process, your answers allow us to filter through the best single parent health insurance options and present you with what we think can be the best policies to suit you, your lifestyle and your budget.

At GMHBA we also understand how important your family’s health is, and how important it is you get back on your feet as quickly as possible when you are sick.

When it comes to health cover, peace of mind is also no doubt close to the top of your list, and it is top of ours, especially when it comes to single parent health insurance options. That is why we offer a range of health insurance options that can suit your budget and your health needs. No matter how many children you have, premiums on our single parent health insurance will remain the same. In other words, it will cost you the same if you have one child or more.  This is one way we can help you meet your weekly budget.

The security of knowing you don’t need to make compromises with your health cover is important to us. Especially as dental treatments can be expensive. And with Medicare not covering most dental treatments, outside of the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, we know choosing between single parent health insurance options can be about cost and peace of mind. We want to provide you with the best options to make choosing health cover as easy as we can.

Proactive health choices for your family

At GMHBA, we don’t just look at single parent health insurance options as insurance. Yes, they are there to help you out when you really need it, but they can also be a proactive way to help you stay on top of your health, especially your dental health.

Dental cover is part of extras insurance. Extras policies provide benefits for treatments and services you don’t usually go to hospital for, like dental, optical, physiotherapy, alternative therapies and much more. The other type of insurance is hospital insurance, which can cover you for admissions to hospital, both in emergency and elective situations. Hospital cover can help you and your family avoid public hospital waiting lists by choosing to be treated in a private hospital. It can also allow you to choose the doctor and surgeon of our choice. However, when it comes to single parent health insurance options for dental cover, we have three main extras covers – Gold, Silver and Bronze.

All our extras covers give you the option of choosing a set benefit or percentage benefits. Benefits are how much you can claim back from specific treatments. Our set benefit premiums can be slightly lower and can help you know exactly how much you can claim back on each treatment. With Gold (75%), Silver (65%) and Bronze (55%) you also have percentage benefit options. For example, if you choose our Silver 65% plan, and the dentist charges you $100 for a filling, you can claim $65 back, as long as your policy is up to date, waiting periods have been served and annual limits have not been exceeded. Annual limits are the maximum amount you can claim each calendar year. They can vary from policy to policy and from treatment to treatment.

Our Gold extras policy is a high-level cover that provides generous benefits on a wide range of treatments. It provides benefits for both general and major dental treatments, as does our Silver extras plan. General dental provides benefits for the regular and less complicated dental treatments like filings, examinations, uncomplicated extractions and diagnostic services like x-rays. Major dental provides benefits for the more complicated treatments such as root canals, crowns and bridgework and complicated extractions. Gold can give you total peace of mind when it comes to single parent health insurance options. Our Silver extras plan offers a moderate level of cover for more commonly used treatments and services. As a general rule, the higher level of cover you have, the larger the annual limits, the higher the benefit and the higher the premium. Our Bronze extras plan is an ideal option if you want to claim treatments like dental and optical and you are on a limited budget. It provides benefits for general dental treatments, not major, and can be a good starter package for someone looking for single parent health insurance options.

Be proactive and look for savings

As we mentioned before, single parent health insurance options can also be a proactive way to look after your health. At GMHBA we place a big value on policies that focus on preventative treatments and services. When it comes to dental, that can make a big difference. All our general dental covers offer benefits for preventative treatments such as examinations and three plaque removals per year. This can help dentists pick up problems before they become too big, and too expensive, and can also help prevent problems from occurring in the first place. Our Family Packages offer 100% back on preventative dental treatments. Health insurance packages like our Family options provide cover for both extras and hospital treatments, and there are options for most budgets.

Looking for savings can be an important part of searching for single parent health insurance options. The Federal Government offers a tiered rebate to people with extras cover. The great thing about the rebate is that as a single parent, your income threshold is the same as that of a family, meaning you can earn up to $180,000, instead of $90,000 as a single, and still attract the highest rebate for someone under the age of 65.

There may also be tax benefits if you choose to take out hospital cover as well as extras (including our Family Packages).  And the earlier you get hospital cover the better, with Lifetime Health Cover loading penalising you 2% for each year over 31 you don’t have health cover, when you take it out for the first time.
