Hospital Cover FAQs

In most instances taking out private health insurance gives you access to be treated in the private healthcare system. You’ll often have the ability to choose your preferred doctor and reduced waiting times by avoiding the public waiting list for some services and elective surgeries.

Private hospital cover pays benefits towards treatment in hospital, reducing some of your out-of-pocket expenses and wait times if you choose to be treated in a private hospital. It also gives you the ability to choose your doctor and if you would like to be treated in a private or public hospital.

When you’re admitted to hospital your private health insurance will pay benefits towards your in-hospital treatment and admission costs.

What’s covered in your policy will depend on the level of cover you choose.

When purchasing cover through GMHBA, you will be able to view the services and treatments available on each product. Always take note of what’s included, so you know you’re covered for the things that matter most to you.

The level of cover that’s right for you will depend on your individual needs, age, health and lifestyle.

If you’re a young, healthy single looking to get covered for the basics without breaking your budget, then a low level of cover might be the way to go.

For young families or those living with existing health conditions, a more comprehensive level of cover may be more appropriate in order to gain complete peace of mind.
