GMHBA brought humour to the serious subject of Menopause on Thursday 26 April 2012 at The Pier in Geelong when 400 locals attended the free seminar hosted by comedian and author Wendy Harmer.
The event was another addition to GMHBA’s health seminar series which has previously covered child health and obesity topics and more recently baby sleep and settling techniques.
Guest speaker Dr Elizabeth Farrell AM, shared her expertise on menopause which has been recognised internationally and in 2009 when she was made a Member of the Order of Australia for her services to women’s health. Dr Farrell explained how best to manage menopause which included understanding the symptoms, treatment options and how best to deal with lifestyle changes.
MC Wendy Harmer shed some comic light on the topic and welcomed locals. Harmer has enjoyed a highly successful thirty-year career in journalism, radio, television and stand-up comedy.
