Services

Our team across Geelong and Ballarat consist of experienced optometrists and dispensers qualified to give you professional eye care. Not only do our optometrists check your eyes for vision and focus, our eye tests can be important in alerting you to a range of health concerns, from diabetes to high blood pressure.

Eye Tests and Eye Health Checks

Running for about half an hour, your eye health check will include questions around your general health, and a vision test. We recommend adults (from teenagers up to 65) get their eyes checked every 2 years. Of course, if specific eye problems (or general health issues) are present more frequent testing may be encouraged. After the age of 65 we recommend yearly check-ups. More frequent testing may be required if a specific eye problem is present. Book an appointment at one of our Geelong or Ballarat based practices today.

Eye Health Management

Our optometrists are qualified in the diagnosis and management of eye related diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts and diabetes. We provide understanding and a high-level care for you and your eyes. Once you’ve had your eye health check, our optometrists will also spend the time to educate you about your eye health and provide you with the appropriate referrals as required.

Wide Range of Lenses

When it comes time to selecting a new pair of glasses, more often than not, finding the right frame is the easy part! Choosing the right lens on the other hand, is a whole different ball game. Our optometrists will help determine the right lens for you from a wide range of options including; bifocal lenses, progressive lenses, extended focus lenses, transition lenses, polarized lenses, multicoats, and UV coatings.

Contact Lens Fittings

Our optometrists will start with an eye test and advise you on the suitability of contact lenses, and which lens will be best for you. Trial lenses are then organised, with a subsequent fitting appointment scheduled once your lenses arrive. We'll then teach you how to insert, remove, handle and look after the lenses.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

GMHBA Eye Care uses the latest technology when looking after the health of your eyes. We encourage our patients to consider an OCT 3D image taken during their consultation. We recommend you receive an OCT scan every two years, more frequently if risk factors are present. Speak to one of our optometrists or optical dispenser for more information.

Digital Retinal Imaging

Our optometrists use digital retinal imaging, also known as a retinal photograph, as a non-invasive, diagnostic tool which produces a digital high-resolution image of your retina, optic nerve and blood vessels in the back of your eye. Digital retinal imaging can help with the early detection of ocular diseases such as, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular changes and retinal detachment.
