Gold Hospital Cover (GH0, GH1, GH2)
Our Gold Hospital covers provide you with real peace of mind and allows you to choose your doctor. They’re available to everybody including singles, single parents, couples and families.
You’ll be covered for a wide range of hospital services (subject to bed availability and certification by a medical practitioner for the need of acute care after 35 days).
Excess options
No excess applies for child dependants under 21 on GMHBA’s Gold family hospital covers listed in our April 2008 member guide.
Gold Hospital cover is available with either:
- Level 0 nil excess (GH0) or
- progressively lower premiums in return for admission excesses of:
- Level 1 $250 (GH1)
- Level 2 $500 (GH2)

What’s covered?
No matter what excess option you choose, Gold Hospital provides cover* at participating private hospitals for:
- Accommodation - shared and private room (where available)
- Theatre
- Delivery suite
- Intensive and coronary care
- Same day treatment
- Surgically implanted prostheses (Government prescribed benefits)
- Medical gap (see Medical Gap Cover)
- Other agreed charges.
Public hospitals
You’ll also be covered* for hospital accommodation costs when you are admitted to a private or shared room (subject to bed availability) as a private patient in a recognised public hospital.
Other private hospitals
Fixed benefits are payable in non participating private hospitals (see Important Information).
Broader Health Cover
You’ll also be covered for the provision of fund approved hospital substitution and chronic disease management services. For further information call us on 1300 4 GMHBA (46422) or visit a branch.
* Limited benefits may apply to cosmetic surgery and high cost drugs. Drugs purchased outside of the hospital are not included.
