What's covered?
Gold Hospital provides cover1 at participating private hospitals for:
- Private hospital accommodation2 in a shared or single room (where available)
- Medical gap
- Delivery suite
- Theatre
- Intensive and coronary care
- Same day treatment
- Surgically implanted prostheses (Government prescribed benefits)
- Other agreed charges
Public hospitals
You'll be covered1 for hospital accommodation costs when you are admitted to a single or shared room (subject to bed availability) as a private patient in a public hospital.
Healthy Start Benefit
Gold Hospital cover provides an additional benefit of up to $500 per childbirth admission to help cover the obstetrician's medical gap (inpatient services only). For further details see the Healthy Start Benefit section in Important Information.

Benefit limitation periods
A 24 month benefit limitation period applies to the following services:
- Psychiatric
- Haemodialysis
- Gastric banding
