Special Care Extras has all the benefits of Silver Extras cover with additional benefits for medical and nursing aids, oxygen, personal alarms and monitoring and remedial massage.

Waiting periods and pre-existing conditions
Waiting periods and rules around pre-existing conditions apply to all GMHBA's Extras covers. Please read the Waiting Periods page for a general overview. Dental benefit limitation
For new memberships (no previous extras cover) or where 12 months continuous dental cover has not been in existence, all dental benefits will be limited to $200 per person/single membership and $400 per family membership during the first 12 months of membership with GMHBA.
Different States, different rates
The cost of extras services varies from State to State. For this reason, the coverage and price of GMHBA's Extras covers also varies. When you're comparing extras covers, be sure to check that you are referring to the table from your State.
What does Special Care Extras cost?
This table compares the price of each of GMHBA's extras covers side-by-side. The rates quoted are monthly Victorian rates paid by direct debit via a bank account with 30% Private Health Members' Rebate on a single cover.
