Basic Hospital

Basic Hospital

Be covered for most treatment types as a private patient in public hospitals. This level of cover is great for those who only need a lower level of cover, or are looking to avoid extra taxes and surcharges. Get the benefits of private health insurance, skip public surgery waiting lists, and have your choice of doctor without paying the premium of comprehensive hospital covers.

Basic Extras

Basic Extras

GMHBA's basic extras provides cost effective "just in case" cover for those that don't claim on extras services frequently. Basic benefits and lower limits keep the cost down, whilst still giving great value benefits when you do claim. Why pay for a higher cover with services you won't use and limits that you're unlikely to reach?

Avoid MLS and LHC

Avoid MLS and LHC

If you don’t have private hospital cover and earn over $84,000 as a single or $168,000 as a couple/family, then you may need to pay the Medicare Levy Surcharge (MLS) to help fund the public health system. The easiest way to avoid paying MLS is to take out an eligible level of hospital cover. Bronze Hospital is the least expensive level of cover that exempts members from paying MLS.

If you first take out hospital cover after you turn 30, there’s a good chance that you will have to pay the Government's Lifetime Health Cover (LHC) loading. If you’re looking for hospital cover to lock in your LHC, then Bronze hospital cover is an affordable option to ensure you don’t have to pay extra LHC in the future.
