Community Giving

At GMHBA, we strive to be at the heart of every community that we serve. We bring people and resources together to achieve shared prosperity and add value to their lives.

We are community minded and genuinely concerned about doing the right thing for our members and the communities we serve. Each year, our employees donate collectively more than $30,000 through the Give Where You Live workplace giving workplace giving program. In the 2013/14 financial year we experienced a 28% increase in employee giving. This increase is attributed to GMHBA employees working as ambassadors for the Give Where You Live Loaned Executives program.

We also conduct monthly 'Casual for a Cause' fundraising activities to support a range of local and national causes. In 2013/14, our fundraising activities raised more than $4,000 for local charities.

In 2013/14, our employees donated to the following charity groups:

Mens Shed
Disabled Surfers Association
Give Where You Live
Headspace
Leila Rose Foundation
Leisure Networks
Lifeline
Movember
Swordfish Club
The Sanctuary

Other staff volunteering and initiatives our employees have been involved in are Give Where You Live (Feed Geelong), BacLinks (Workplace Big Day Out), Project Pamper (Geelong and Ballarat) and the Murray to Moyne (24 hour cycling relay).

Key to our Community Minded Strategy is employee involvement through volunteering and salary donations. GMHBA employees provide tangible assistance to the community through volunteering programs that help empower and connect people. In 2013/14, GMHBA employees contributed more than 200 volunteer hours to community organisations and projects, via a community partnership with Karingal BacLinks.
