The GMHBA Lorne Pier to Pub and Mountain to Surf was a huge success over the past weekend and has been hailed the most successful event in its 33 year history.

Over 2,000 runners took part in the Mountain to Surf run on the Friday and up to 5,000 people aged between 12 and 89 took the plunge on Saturday afternoon for the swim.

Back on the beach, GMHBA ran an interactive cycling challenge encouraging people to hop on a stationary bike and cycle as hard as possible for five minutes at a time to clock up as many kilometres as possible. When passing key landmarks along the way, GMHBA donated funds to go toward purchasing a defibrillator for the Lorne Surf Life Saving Club.

By the end of Saturday we had accumulated 328km - a truly amazing effort by all. Although the 420km target was not reached in the end, the full donation was passed on to the club in order to keep people safe on the beach.
